Description

This virtual course covers the basics of the medical response to human trafficking and meets the requirements and is approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission in accordance with House Bill 2059, 86th Session, 2019. This course is for all learners - Texas and non-Texas learners.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Examine Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, federal and state laws pertinent to the health care, mandatory reporting, and potential implications of reporting to law enforcement regarding human trafficking.
  • Focus on the practices to facilitate safety for all, vulnerabilities of those who are, or who can be at risk regarding human trafficking, and role of health care professional.
  • Analyze trafficking and consensual commercial sex, the concepts of force, fraud and coercion, human trafficking and smuggling, and trafficker profiles and recruitment techniques.
