Course information: The purpose of this experiential learning session is to provide a structured learning environment for the new and already practicing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to become comfortable with interacting with a patient who has experienced sexual assault. The participant will learn to conduct a speculum insertion and detailed anogenital assessment. In addition, the attendee will be able to conduct multiple simulated sexual assault examinations with evidence collection in a controlled, safe environment. Attendees must have either attended a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Education Course for Adults and Adolescents or be an already practicing SANE who would like extra training. Over the 2 ½ days, the participant will complete requirements for speculum insertion and simulated exams for the Texas CA-SANE certification.

 

Cost:  $30 (covers the cost of lunch for September 16-17)

Continuing Education Credit:

Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Refund policy: Registration for this event will close on September 9, 2019 to allow for logistics (facility, meal and/or refreshment coordination).

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration immediately. Refund requests will be accepted up to five (5) working days prior to the start of the event.  Refund requests should be submitted to ForensicNursing@tamu.edu.  Refunds will not be processed until the conclusion of the event.

Last minute registration transfers will be handled on a case-by-case basis, please email no later than three (3) days prior to the event.  If no cancellation notice is received, or request for refund, refunds will not be automatically issued.  No partial refunds can be issued.
